MGL u18s Balrath 0 Leixlip 5
5 months to the day since our last match it was great to hit the ground running. Balrath started the day top of the league, but it was a really strong performance from the get go. Took us 40 minutes to get the first goal - a well taken strike from Ruby Munnelly, after a nice pass through from Aliana Buisman. After half time though we really went through the gears. Ruby added a second early in the second half leaving defenders in her wake and scoring well - and the hat trick was finished soon after as she pickpocketed a defender and buried it. This was Ruby's debut with the u18s having played senior football in the summer, a great addition to our team! We really were playing good football at this stage, some nice passing and good possession. Alison O'Connor made a superb save around this time too, full length to keep a well deserved clean sheet. At the other end another cross from Aliana was vollied home by Jae Howard for 4-0. Then we had a scramble in the box, which ended up breaking to Isabelle Braescu who drilled it in for 5-0. There was still time for a few more chances too - Joy Brown had a superb finish unfortunately ruled out for offside.

Two other debutants Irina Canizares and Maia Mulligan were instrumental in the win today too. Honestly, great to see all 16 of our players perform well, our worries about the long break are forgotten now! (Photo Above)

MGL U16: Malahide 0 Leixlip 2
Almost a year ago today Malahide beat us 7-0 but the girls have been on a steady upward curve.
Malahide started very strongly & got on top of us.
Our defenders soaked up a lot & then from an Isabelle Mullarkey throw, Lucy Morris & Grace Kelly worked it well for Cara Moriarty to cross for Sophie Dalton to score in front of goal.
Pressure came again but again when the opportunity came we worked the ball forward smartly in a flowing move. Sophie was tackled for what was deemed a penalty which she slotted away.

Key to this win were centre back Molly Crehan and keeper Evie McNaughton (Evie just came through trials to make the MGL Academy) who were immense under huge pressure with the ref complimenting immediately after.

U13 Girls Mount Merrion 0 - 1 LUFC
We went out to Blackrock this morning where 2 teams that will be hoping to be top of the table at the end of the season battled hard against each other. Leixlip scored the only goal of the game which came through a counter attack from a MM corner. Lily Diffney on the front post, headed away a goal bound effort, took it on her chest and volleyed a great ball through to Sophie Murphy who ran on and finished it neatly into the corner of the net. They battled hard for each other and we came away with the 3 points we went out there looking for.

Under 16 Major Portmarnock 3-3 Leixlip
Disappointing end to an excellent game from us, 3-1 up at HT and in command. Goals from Lewis, Darragh and Robertas.
5 mins into the 2nd half we concede a peno which they score. We then miss at least 5-10 chances, some we have to be taken to kill the game off, we fail to do that and on the last kick, free into the box with everyone in there spills into the net in a deflating late equaliser. Performance wass good, we took our chances and we would have had a good win on the road.

U16 B Leixlip 6-0 Railway Union
The lads maintained their 100% record in the new season with a clinical win. Lads were two nil up by half time through goals from Sam Baker and Marti Jubert. The game was put to bed shortly after half time when Jack Kineavy put us 3 nil up after a strong run up the right wing. We finished the game strongly with further goals from David Ibrahim and a second from both Jack Kineavy and Marti Jubert.

U13 Major Leixlip United 3-0 St Mochtas
A great start to the game saw us 2 up inside the first 10 minutes. Dan Lyons with the 2 goals. More chances followed before Dara Moylan put the 3rd goal away.
In the second half the boys created more chances but couldn’t finish off with the final touch. The whole team defended well and the lads done well to get the win and clean sheet

15M. St Ita's 4 Leixlip Utd 3.
A very disappointing result down in Portrane. After a scrappy opening and a missed penalty by the opposition we finally went in front with a good header from Adam Abidoye. Missed chances either side of the break cost us dearly when Ita's bagged 3 goals in a matter of minutes to turn the game on its head. We kept at it and from some good play we got a goal back through Fiacra Martin. We continued to press for the equaliser but once again after some sloppy play we gave away another penalty which this was clinically dispatched. We kept battling away and pulled a goal back through Aaron McDonagh but the final whistle sounded soon after. A game we certainly should have taken something from but we move onto the sfai Cup next week looking for an improved performance.

U14P Leixlip 1 Shels 1
1pm kickoff this week so at least the lads were half awake, after a disappointing loss away to Crumlin last week we needed to start well unfortunately we conceded possession to them early on but they didn’t really threaten too much from it, we grew into the game and a spell of pressure led to Daniel Kemple & Oisin Stokes forcing their center back into a poor back pass over his keepers head og. Second half we were sloppy and lashing balls away when we could have taken touches and eventually it cost us as we lost the ball in a poor area in midfield and they slid striker in 1-1. After that the lads put in a great effort to try and get all 3 points and great feet from Dany Pop on the edge of the box and his snapshot was inches wide then a hopeful forward ball was seized upon by Oisin Stokes and he dragged his shot inches wide. Disappointed but looking at results everyone is taking points off everyone so every point counts. SFAI next week so we move on.

14 A Portmarnock 2 Leixlip United 2
An early KO in Portmarnock and we faced a very good side.
Over the first 20 minutes they steadily got on top and scored from a good spell of pressure.
Just before half time keeper Dan O'Reilly fed the ball forward to Senan Moriarty who played in Stevie Owens and Stevie held off a couple of players to equalise.
In the 2nd half their midfield who played strongly throughout worked an opening to retake the lead.
Our lads were hanging in and digging deep and the equaliser came when Kristian Ivanov fed Senan Moriarty who won a 50:50 to put Stevie Owens through again and once again he took his chance.
Portmarnock proceeded to dominate the rest of the game and we had to rely on Dan O'Reilly to bail us out including a fantastic double save right at the death.
We won't play many better teams this year and are happy to come away with the draw. Photo Below
