Match Reports
U16B Leixlip 5-1 Phoenix FC

Another strong performance by the lads. Sam Bacon put Leixlip 1 nil up after 6 minutes with a great header at the back post. After absorbing Phoenix pressure and losing centre half Tadhg O'Meara to an injury, Leixlip struck again on 50 minutes when Sam Bacon drilled home his second to make it 2 nil. Phoenix pulled one back almost immediately but David Ibrahim eased the pressure when he headed home a James Gaynor corner to make it 3-1. Gaynor scored straight from a corner on 70 minutes to put Leixlip 4-1 up. Gaynor then got on the end of a great through ball from Oscar Corcoran to finish from the edge of the box into the bottom corner to put the result beyond doubt.

U13 girls Div1 - Cup Semi-finals Leixlip 4 - 0 Newlands
CUP FINALISTS!!!!
A much needed win today following a bad result on Tuesday. 2 early goals from Niamh  Looney  and Sophie Murphy following some great work in closing down from the girls in midfield.
Second half was the same. We controlled much of the ball and after some good work down the left hand side Cadhla Eviston gave us our third finishing at the back post after a great cross by Sophie Murphy. Our forth goal was all about laoise Boyce who made a great run from her own half, ball was popped off by Sophie Murphy and laoises power and strength brought her one on one with the goalie, where she finished brilliantly into the bottom left hand corner to wrap up a great win and send the girls into the cup final in style.

U13 Boys Sun 7 Leixlip 5 - 2 Blessington
Another strong performance from the lads today. We went 2-0 up early  in the first half and were the stronger team and went in 3-2 up at half time. In the second half the two teams battled hard. We kept going right to the end and got 2 late goals. The goalscorers were Josh x 2, Jakub, Evan and Setempi.
Setempi got the goal of the game with a fantastic run the length of the pitch.

U14 Major 1 Bohemians 2 Leixlip Utd 3
A right battle out in the Phoenix park. Leixlip took an early lead after 10 mins, a perfect corner from Zach Fitzpatrick and a lovely finish on the near post by Aidan McConville. Half time 1-0 up after controlling most of the half but not taking our chances. Again fast at the start to 2nd half we went 2-0 up a lovely run by Liam O'Hagan on the left who cut in for Ben Kineavy to finish inside the 6 yard box. Bohemians managed to come back into the game with a few defensive errors at the back and they scored in quick succession. Under severe pressure a great shout out to Conor Horan who managed to pull out a great save with a one on one. Heads did not drop and with 5 minutes remaining a great passage of play with through ball from Jack Reilly ended with Brendan Carolan following up with a lovely finish. Plenty of positives today and great to get the win.

Donnycarney Celtic 4 Leixlip Utd 2 AET
Tough one take today to miss out on a cup final appearance but we just fell short. After a cagey start we went ahead when Fiacra Martin finished from close range. Donnycarney equalised from a breakaway and unfortunately for us we deflected a cross into our own net. We came back at them and after a few efforts went close Aidan Doyle finished from range again after the ball came back off the crossbar. Second half we were definitely second best and they equalised late in the half. Extra time just seemed to be a step too much for us and two goals in the first period finished the game as a contest. We just have to dust ourselves down and go again in the next few weeks in order to achieve promotion.

U15A Leixlip United 2 Templeogue 5
The boys hosted the league leaders today and gave them the fright of their lives. This was a wonderful team performance in a very entertaining game.
Two classy snapshots from the 18 yard box, courtesy of Cameron McComish and Gabby Floroiu respectively, were separated by a fine Templeogue effort. Outside these moments Leixlip‘s defence in particular was resolute enabling the boys to get to HT with a deserved lead.
The 2nd half picked up in similar fashion with E2E opportunities for both teams being snuffed out. The feeling from the sideline was that any next goal was going to prove crucial to the final outcome… it did… and unfortunately it went to Templeogue.
This was a blow and noticeably energised the away team. Leixlip did rally and continued to make a fight of it but Templeogue  ultimately demonstrated why they are favourites for the title, slipping in a couple of late goals that arguably flattered their win.

Top performances right across the pitch. Shout outs to Captain Conor Jeffrey and Oscar Butler in midfield, Gabby and Cam up front. But our full backs Benj Stoneham and Tom McManus were immense today against the best wingers in the league with Tom getting the nod for MOTM.

U13 A/A1 Gerry Murphy Cup Semi Final St John Bosco 0 - 2 Leixlip Utd
Leixlip reached the final of the Gerry Murphy Cup. Another excellent performance from the boys. This was a tough battle from the very start in St John Bosco's home ground. Leixlip scored their first on the 15-minute mark, with Eoghan Ruane converting from a James Iredale cross. Leixlip then went on to withstand some heavy pressure from the home team. With five minutes to go to half-time, Leixlip broke on a counterattack to score their 2nd . Conor Tighe receiving a fantastic through ball from Jack Dooley on the left rounded the keeper to convert from the tightest of angels.

In the second half, Leixlip maintained their 2 goal advantage with some solid defending as the home team pressed to get on the score sheet. Conor Tighe was unlucky not to have a 2nd goal with his effort disallowed for offside
.
Man of the match -  Eoghan Ruane. On to the final!
