Huge congrats to our LSL Saturday team who won their league this week. (Photos attached)

U17B
Tallaght Town 1-4 Leixlip
Another hurdle jumped, a lovely morning for it, but it was breezy and it played a part first half, even into the wind we opened up a 3 goal lead at halftime, with goals from Rob Paoleti and Nathan O'Connell and a well dispatched penalty from Kane O'Brien.
Second half we started wobbly for the second game on a row but we added a 4th from Sam Tenali, we let complacency creep in and allowed them in for a consolation, but we had the composure to close it out, another 3 points is the main thing as we close out this season.

Girls U12 Div 4 Cabinteely 1 Leixlip 0
Brilliant performance from all the girls today against Cabinteely who are unbeaten this season. The girls fought from start to finish and hit the post a few times. Deserved a goal for all their efforts. Cabinteely scored with about 5 minutes to go to snatch the points.
Disappointing result but couldn’t have asked for more from them.

U12 Sat C Beechwood FC 1-2 Leixlip Utd
We got off to a great start when  Aaron Dunne put us 1 up  with a lovely shot to the bottom corner. There were more chances in the first half, but we just couldn't take them. Beechwood came back at us in the second half on got an early goal to level it. Again, we went at them but just couldn't beat their keeper who pulled off some amazing saves. With 3 minutes to go Conor Tighe was pulled down in the box and was awarded a penalty. Tom Dolon stood up and converted from the spot. We deserved the win and all ready now for a top of the table clash with Lucan on Monday. Man of the match was Glen Hannon.

U13B Leixlip United 3-2 Sporting Greystones
Strange game,  we started brilliantly and were 1 up after 2 minutes when Anil Rawat Geoghan crossed for Max Farnan to head home. Max got his second soon after when he beat 2 men then lobbed the keeper.  Max turned provider when he crossed for Ben Kineavey to hammer home our 3rd after 20 minutes.  Things changed from here as Sporting got one back after we switched off from a ball over the top. Sporting got a 2nd from a corner and we were lucky to go in ahead at HT. 2nd half was a nervy affair and despite having the better chances and Conor Horan commanding the box well we were glad to hear the final whistle.

U13P Leixlip 0 St Francis 3
Score suggests an easy win for them but it was far from that. We were 0-0 with 29mins gone and a cross that should have been blocked fell to an unmarked Francis player to nod in. 2nd goal came straight after half time which was disappointing from an unmarked player at a corner.  The match was pretty even throughout and our lads put in a shift in the heat and were not beaten for physicality by a very physical team. Unfortunately we tired a little at the end and gave away the ball at the edge of our box and a Francis forward hit a high powerful finish to the goal. 1st goal is so key and we just can’t seem to buy one at the minute but we were competitive again for no reward, the joys of premier football 📷

The Senior Ladies A team made it 3 wins from 3 with a tough 5-2 win over St Itas last week.  That followed a fairly handy 5-0 win over TEK the week before. We went 2-1 down late in the first half but we battled hard to get ourselves back in front. We scored some excellent goals, one of which is a contender for a Puskas award!  I'm trying to get a copy of the video but no luck so far.

U17B Leixlip 5-1 St Paul's Artane
A great win for the boys tonight. We were really up for it in the 1st half and created lots of chances. We converted 3, 2 from Rob Paoleti and 1 from CB Finn Crehan and we had control of the game. Second half we actually started poorly by comparison and St Paul's started to create some chances and they got their goal to make it 3-1, that was the nudge we needed to get back control of the game again and we did, we added another 2 with goals from Nathan O'Connell and Kane O'Brien. We move on to Thursday and another big game.

Leixlip Ladies B team  Rush 2 - 3 Leixlip B
Challenge Cup game
Tough game on the road against a team in division that is 2 leagues higher than B team.
Great game of football by both sides.
Two goals each by both teams in an entertaining first half.
Half way through the second half we took a deserved lead. We had better chances also in the second half. No more goals in what was a great game and result for B team.

MGL Pavilions Cup Final Lakelands 2 Leixlip 1

(Photo  17P girls before their final today.)
An excellent performance from the girls this afternoon, we were unfortunate to lose in a close game. Lakelands took the lead early on when they countered quickly from our corner, to go 1 up after 6 minutes. Despite that, our heads didn't drop and we started to get a good foothold in the game, deservedly equalising when Emily Lynch fired over the keeper from the left side of the box for 1-1.

Second half we had plenty of good possession, with the defence holding strong against Lakelands pacey forwards. We had several corners that were scrambled clear and a few chances to go ahead, but the ball didn't drop kindly. Then with around 5 minutes left Lakelands countered again, catching us as we were pressing, and scoring a well taken goal. Unfortunately in the remaining 5 minutes we didn't manage to take it to extra time.

We're really proud of the girls - they stuck to their task brilliantly and with a little luck could have come out on top. It's the end to a fantastic season as we've gone from 14C, 15B, 16A to 17 Premier in the last 3 years - with the same squad improving year on year. Wasn't our day today, but the team is a credit to myself Sandra and Shauna, and to Leixlip United - a great example of hard work at training paying off in performances!
