Match Reports
U14M. St Mochtas 2 Leixlip United 6

2-1 down at half time and deservedly so as we were second to everything . Lads didn’t panic, within 10 minutes of the restart the lads went from reverse gear into 6th, three goals in 3 minutes, two from Fiachra Martin and super finish from Jamie Flood gave us 4-2 with Ryan Naughton getting a deserved goal and after missing two empty net chances Fiachra got his fourth and our 6th! Lads now have won 5 straight games away from home and today they proved their mettle by putting in a superb second half performance .

U13D Peamount 3 Leixlip 2
Just lost out today against the most physical side we’ve played so far this season. Went 2-0 down within 10 minutes then a great strike from Mark Shaker took us in 2-1 at half time.
Second half was a real battle and a great through ball from Jake McCormack put Mark Shaker through to equalise. They scored a third within a couple of minutes and although we had a few chances just couldn’t get back on terms.
Can’t fault the lads for the effort put in. Disappointing but these are the games we’ll learn from.

U12C Leixlip Utd 4 - 0 Belmont FC
Another convincing performance from the lads again today. Goals from Aaron Dunne, Glen Hannon, and two from Ethan Morrison kept our unbeaten run intact.

U13B Granada 1-3 leixlip United
Granada started very well and had a couple of chances early on and took the lead with a scramble in the box. We started to settle into the game and got a couple of chances which were well held by their keeper. Zach Fitzpatrick then got the equaliser direct from a corner with a wonderful strike. The game was very even and the teams went in level at half time. 2nd half Granada started brightly again but our defence held firm and Conor Horan was equal to anything they threw at him in goals. We were always a threat on the counter attack and we got the second after a great through ball by Ben Kineavey sent Rian Fahey through and he rifled it into the net. Both teams had chances after this until Ben Kineavey turned provider again when he put James McGee through who hooked it back across the keeper and into the bottom corner. A big win away from home

U15 Sunday Div 2 Leixlip 0 Peamount 2
Unlucky loss today against the league leaders who are unbeaten. Lads battled really hard but Peamount took their chances well. Great performance from captain Sean Quigley in midfield. Match played in great spirit by both sides. The senior pitch suffered from the weather and the match was reminiscent of an enjoyable but mud soaked 1970s FA cup game.

U15B Mount Merrion 2-0 Leixlip
Couldn't buy a win at the moment, 4 missing through illness didn't help and we can't fault the boys for effort but we just aren't getting the rub of the green at the minute, their first goal was a sloppy scramble after a corner and the second as we were chasing the game.

MGL U17 League Cup - Lakelands 1 Leixlip Utd 1
Great performance from the team today, the weather was pretty terrible which made conditions difficult, with a strong wind blowing downfield. We played really well in the first half and had a few chances, Jae Howard coming closest with a superb effort that rattled the crossbar.

Second half we continued strongly and after a foul on Katie Allen inside their half, Sophie O’Connor pinged the ball towards the edge of the box, Jae took it down and took it around the keeper and scored to make it 1-0. In the last twenty minutes we were on the backfoot and defended brilliantly. Alison O’Connor made several great saves, including one-handedly tipping over a long range effort. Corner after corner was cleared away, but the ball wouldn't stick and unfortunately in the 81st minute Lakelands equalised, with a looping volley from the edge of the box. We had to keep concentrating and working hard as Lakelands had more chances, but we were equal to it. After 7 stressful minutes of stoppage time we came away with a really well earned point.
