Fantastic performance from the team this afternoon. We went 1-0 down early on, but had plenty of possession and chances before a handball at the edge of the Clonee box gave Isabelle Braescu a sight of goal and she buried the freekick into the roof of the net for 1-1. Wasn't long until we were ahead with Jae Howard smashing in a great finish from the edge of the box into the top corner for 1-2 at half time. We had chances, but Clonee weren't out of it and our defence were in top form.
With around 20 minutes to go, Isabelle controlled the ball and smacked it in from the corner of the box, with the keeper caught unawares for 3-1 - a really superb performance on her 15th birthday! In the last 15 minutes we finished out the game strongly with Jae scoring their second with a good left foot finish, after a super lay off from Emily Lynch, for 4-1.
In the last 5 minutes the game was fairly stretched and we conceded a penalty on the counterattack, but Clonee put it over the bar. Then we ran the ball to the other end of the pitch, Clonee failed to clear their lines and Aliana Buisman whipped the ball into the net for 5-1 . There was about 1 minute added on and Jae took the last chance of the game to lift the ball over the keeper for their hat-trick, another brilliant finish - 6-1. Very strong performance across the park and carries on our good momentum this season.
U17B Sacred Heart 1-2 Leixlip Utd
Top of the table clash today and a tough assignment for the boys in difficult conditions as well. We had the better of the 1st half and a goal from Aji Adegboye gave us the lead, we had a couple of other chances but couldn't add to it, second half was a scrappier affair and we didn't fully settle, we got a second from Nathan O'Connell which gave us some breathing room, however a very cheap penalty from us let them in and it was backs to the wall for the last 20, our defence led by Finn Crehan worked really hard epitomised by a super goal line clearance from Darragh Craven after a scramble kept us in the lead and we battled to the 3 points, very satisfying win.

Ballyoulster 1 Leixlip 0
Saturday evening game instead of our usual Sunday morning. A narrow defeat to a much more physical and vocal side. Ballyoulster scored the winning goal early in the second half and despite some very strong performances, particularly by Daire Heavey, the lads couldn't find the equaliser. They will benefit from tough games like this but hopefully we will get back to winning ways soon.
SFAI U14. St Ita’s 0 - Leixlip United 2
We were missing 5 players but lads stepped up today and dominated the game from start to finish . We went 1-0 up when a ball to the back post was slid in by Tadgh Maher , their keeper kept them in it and second half we feared an onslaught with the wind , never happened we played all the ball and Fiachra Martin finally got us the second goal with 10 to play , defence and midfield never stopped working and we should have taken numerous chances !! ( never happy 📷) so we now have a home draw in the next round and will fancy a crack at a premier team. The lads have now won the last 5 with 4 away from home.

A welcome break from the league and we started well on the front foot and had our opener after 5 mins a lofted through ball was latched on to by Oisin Stokes who finished neatly to the corner. We stayed on the front foot and gave them very little and got a deserved second from a great team move, a defence splitting pass from Josh Kenny led to a neat pass across the box that was finished calmly by Patrick Whelan. We got a 3rd just before half-time from a lofted shot from Tom McCusker from 25 yards after the ball broke out after a corner.
Second half started very scrappy with both sides making changes but we were always comfortable and got a 4th when Patrick Whelan won the ball high up the pitch and finished from the edge of the box to the bottom corner. Final goal game from a superb through ball from Oisin Kelly that Cillian O Hagan finished calmly in stride to the corner. The lads did what was required and kept a clean sheet so hopefully we can carry that to next week in the league.
U13B: Verona 3 Leixlip Utd 3
We conceded early against the league leaders but levelled soon after with a free kick just outside the box from Daniel O’Reilly. Leixlip then took the lead from a smart ball put through for Rian Fahy who took it past the keeper to score.
Staying on the front foot we won a penalty & Daniel scored his 4th goal in two games. In the second half Verona raised their game & scored twice from frees.
No one bar the ref could understand the 2nd one & the lads were disappointed not to get the win.
U12C Leixlip Utd 1 Beechwood AFC 0
1st against 3rd today. Beechwood league leaders. We played against a strong wind in the first half, but we got on top early on. Eoghan Ruane got a lovely flick in from a corner on about 20 minutes to give us the lead. It was end to end stuff. The second half was very tight, but to be fair, the better team won in the end. Great performance again from the lads and still unbeaten in the league.
