U12's Sun A1 Leixlip 4 - Granada 3
Made hard work of what should have been a more comfortable win. Scored the winner in the last minute which is always sweet.
Terenure 0-6 Leixlip Utd
A good win, plenty of goals and a great performance all round the park. Girls are progressing well and needed the boost after last week's loss. A match they should have won. Onto next week...''
U15s Leixlip 5 - Greystones Utd 1 (Team photo attached with Managers, Stewart McNaughton, Colm Moriarty, Teegan Dunne and John Small)
We started on the front foot & Grace Kelly opened for us after a great spell.
They equalised from a classy strike off a corner & we went in level.
Grace was running the game & scored her second after the reset. There was no looking back then as Cara Moriarty scored twice from distance.
The final goal was very satisfying with the girls passing the length of the pitch for Sophie Dalton to keep her cool when put through.
U14B Howth 3 Leixlip 6
A day of extremes…
- Long drive out for everyone
- Huge slope on the pitch. Worst we have come across
- A slow start that saw us shipping 3 quick goals against a busy and well drilled Howth team.
- a multitude of wayward shots off target.
- Away supporters nerves shredded
No heads dropped. The boys dug deep and managed to pull 1 back before HT. An excellent piece of skill by Paddy Corrigan to first find space and then send in a glorious cross for Cameron McComish to snap up. At the break the team rallied. The coaches had their say and made some changes but we were super impressed by the self regulation demonstrated by the lads. They stepped back on to the pitch believing the 2nd half was theirs for the taking.
After 2 mins Ryan Good powered into the box from the left and finished from a tight angle.
All of a sudden, Leixlip’s absent composure had returned. Howth’s goalkeeper was forced into making a series of top notch saves. However, there was absolutely no stopping Adam Abidoye’s thunder blaster that nearly took the net off to level the sides at 3-3.
Adam had found his range and plundered 2 more to get his hat-trick. Captain Eoghan Lyons, made it 6 capping an excellent, individual performance in centre mid field.
Credit to Howth who kept going till the end. It was not one way traffic by any means but Leixlip would not be denied today.
U13P Cherry Orchard 0-3 Leixlip
1pm kickoff on Astro out there but lads were at it straight away we pressed high from the start and had a few chances but gave them nothing then Josh Kenny scored from a rebound out of the box he finished from 20 yards to top corner after 20 mins. Second half more of the same we could have been out of sight but went two nil up great move down right and a great cross was finished deftly by Senan Linnane. Orchard had great pressure for 10mins after that and our keeper Euan made a worldie save to keep orchard out but we were still getting chances and same move down right was finished by Rian Conway for 3-0. Lads played very well and we could have had 2 or 3 more but delighted with attitude and clean sheet.
U15B Clontarf 1-0 Leixlip
Great game of ball, a real end to end battle. We only had 12 players this morning so the boys really had to dig in. We were the better team first half and only conceded from the peno spot against the run of play. 2nd half was end to end with both teams slugging it out, very proud of the boys they kept going to the end and I feel we deserved something from the game.
U13D Ardmore Rovers 2 Leixlip 7
Early start for the lads in Bray but they did really well.
Jake McCormack got 5 on his birthday
The other 2 from Leanord Matusevics and Logan Finnegan.
Ardmore had chances and missed a penalty.
Some great goalkeeping from Dylan O’Donoghue kept them out
All round great team effort
U13B1 leixlip United 8-0 Portmarnock
Emphatic win for first home game of the season. Portmarnock started lively but our defence was able to keep them at arms length. After the first 15 minutes we began to control the game and goals from Rian Fahey and Liam O'Hagan knocked all confidence out of Portmarnock. We kept passing the ball and Rian Fahey got his second. Max Farnan grabbed the 4th just before half time with a worldie from 25 yards out. We made a lot of changes at half time but the lads kept the pressure up and didn't let standards drop and Senan Moriarty got the goal he deserved about ten minutes into second half. We got another from a corner when Brendan Carolan tapped in. After that we soaked up a little pressure and managed to score 2 goals on the counter attack from Luke Schuster and a Brendan Carolan 2nd. We will have much tougher games this season but great to get another clean sheet and always nice to score goals.
