David English cup and the Jody O'Reilly cup
We had a very successful day today in Leixlip United when we hosted the three schools on Greenlane for the David English cup and the Jody O'Reilly cup for the boys and girls respectively.
The David English cup was won by Scoil Mhuire on a penalty shoot out against Scoil Eoin Phoil after a very exciting game finished 3-3.
In the girls section Scoil Bhride took the honours after a very tight game winning one nil. This was the inaugural running of the Jody O'Reilly cup and it was a great competition between some well matched teams. Congratulations to the winners and we look forward to doing it all once again during the next school year.

Match Reports
Lusk 1: Leixlip 2 (U14b MGL)
Another fine performance and a nice finish to the season. A strong opening 20 minutes led to a free kick a bit outside the box for us. Branna Ward was fouled protecting the ball. Cara Moriarty struck it well - sailed over the wall & just under the cross bar for the opener.
That put some urgency into Lusk who soon after forced a triple save from Evie McNaughton.
Lusk did score right after half time with a strong solo effort but after that their keeper had to be excellent to keep us out.
The girls kept the pressure on with breakthrough coming as Riona Kelly drove into the box & was tripped for a penalty which Cara converted.
The last spell saw us defend about 5 corners and while they hit the crossbar captain Molly Crehan organised a successful defensive effort.
Great excitement & super end to our first year of 11 aside.(Photo attached of U14 Girls relaxing after their game)
