U13 Major Boys Leixlip United 5 - 2 Glebe North.

Our good run continues with a good performance in a game we should've been more comfortable in. We took the lead after 2 minutes when Ollie Dagg Moran's corner was headed home by Harry Gibbs. We made it 2 a minute later when Daniel Tighe won the ball back high and played through Eanna Farragher who poked the ball passed the oncoming keeper. Glebe got a goal back after 10 minutes when we gave the ball away cheaply for the centre midfielder to score from distance. We didn't feel sorry for ourselves and a few minutes later Ben O Connell played Eanna Farragher through who side footed the bouncing ball over the keeper to make it 3-1. Just before the break a great passing move from left to right ended with Olly Proctor's strike from just inside the box sailing over their keeper. 4-1 at half time.

We conceded another  soft goal early in the 2nd half when we switched off and left their right winger in to score to make it 4-2. Eanna Farragher completed his hat trick with a brave header after a bit of pinball from a Daniel Tighe corner. We controlled the rest of the game well and could've extended our lead on several occasions. Harry Gibbs saw his brilliant free kick hit the post and the Glebe keeper saved well from Daniel Tighe after a great mazy run. 4 wins on the bounce now but we face a much tougher test next week away to St. Francis ⚽️


U15.2 Boys Terenure Rangers 1 - 2 Leixlip United.

Massive win on the road for the lads on Saturday for our first win of the season .

Really tough battle but we were well up for it from start to finish. Conceded after only two minutes from a long range free which couldn’t be touched but after that we really took the game to Rangers. Ethan Mulkerrin got a deserved equaliser before the break and we were unlucky not to go on to the break ahead when a couple of contentious offsides went against up.
Second half was more of the same with Leixlip getting on top in midfield.

Jamie Collins capped a fine display to smash home the winner with twenty to go and we held out with some really brave defending to take all three points 👏🏻

U14 Major Boys Leixlip United 3 - 0 Greystones.

Leixlip started the game the brighter of the 2 sides with most of the game played in the Greystones half. The lads played excellent football for the first half but were unable to breakdown the Greystones back 4. In particular our midfield trio of Ryan Sheridan, Harry Reilly, and Lucas Walsh gave us a huge amount of control.

Start of the 2nd half was a bit more even with both teams having bright spells. Jack Byrne came on as a 2nd half substitute and got his first goal from a combination of a quick transition and Greystones not clearing their lines. Jack was working really hard and got his 2nd from some excellent pressure from Leixlip on the edge of the Greystones box to put us 2-0 up.

The best was yet to come though as Lee McDonagh found Sandro with a 60 yard diagonal pass over the Greystones back 4. Sandro cooly finished over the head of the Greystones keeper.

U15 Premier Boys Leixlip United 2 - 0 St Joseph's.

Really good performance from our lads today against a good footballing side.

Didn't create the chances in the first half  for all our good possession. Lads stayed patient and took the lead 10 mins after the break. Zach Tighes free kick was met by a towering header from centre half James Ryan.

Should have put the game to bed earlier and had to rely on two great saves from Oran McAuley to keep us ahead.

With 5 minutes to go we won the ball high up the pitch and Cian Brady played in Freddie Feeney who calmy slotted it home.  Great win, workrate and attitude was spot on. Number of lads playing through the  pain today.

U13.4 Boys Leixlip United 1 - 0 Glasnevin.

A big win against a strong unbeaten Glasnevin side in that weather on Sunday and they made it a battle from the start but our lads were well up for it. Glasnevin made it tough piling on pressure and were a good footballing side but we stuck first with an excellent ball over the top out to the left wing seen Dylan McLoughlin slot home and put us 1-0 up after 20 minutes.

Glasnevin didn’t drop their heads though and for the rest of the half kept the pressure on. In the second half we created a lot more chances and passages of play straight from the training ground started to show on the pitch with some excellent football being played, but we couldn’t find a second goal. The last 5 minutes Glasnevin tried everything to get back into the game but our back 4 were strong and worked really hard with our keeper Byron McAuley having an outstanding performance and acting like a sweeper on multiple occasions. A great team performance which leaves us top of the table with 5 matches played. 💪⚽️

U13.8 Sunday Boys Baldoyle 3 - 7 Leixlip United.

​Leixlip maintained unbeaten start to the season with a resilient victory in tough, windy conditions.

The visitors dominated early, building a 5-1 lead through braces from James Araujo and Josh Riordain, alongside a goal from Eli Crehan.

Baldoyle managed to pull one back just before the break, making it 5-2 at half-time. ​Backed by a strong wind in the second half, Baldoyle scored early to cut the deficit to 5-3.

The crucial turning point came from Fionn Kilcullen, whose goal-line clearance denied Baldoyle a fourth and halted their momentum. Galvanized by the save, Leixlip regained control, with Gavan Dundon and Fiachra Feeney finding the net to kill off the comeback and seal the win.


U16.A4 Boys Maynooth 1 - 1 Leixlip United.

There are mornings when the scoreline lies through its teeth, and this squally Sunday on the outskirts of Kildare was one of them. Leixlip United, playing the more coherent, more inventive football by some distance, were made to settle for a point they will have driven home wondering how they managed to leave two behind them.

The conditions offered no favours — a wet, blustery morning that tested first touches and tempers alike, but the pitch, credit where due, held up well, and so, for long periods, did Leixlip's shape.
Leixlip started with real purpose, moving the ball with accuracy and speed that pulled a well-organised, physical Maynooth side out of their shape and left them relying on discipline alone to stay level. It was, in truth, the visitors who dictated the terms of this contest — the midfield in particular ticking over like a well-oiled machine, enjoying long spells of possession and dragging Maynooth from one side of the pitch to the other. But this was no one-way traffic against a soft touch: Maynooth are a good side in their own right, and whenever they did ask questions of the Leixlip rearguard, the answers came with composure and no little resolve.
Early alarm, calmly handled.

It took only half an hour for the first examination of the afternoon, and Will Corscadden passed it with distinction. Sent clean through by a slack Leixlip line, the Maynooth forward struck a shot laden with pace towards the bottom corner — the sort of effort that ordinarily finishes conversations rather than starting them. Corscadden had other ideas, throwing himself full length to his right, meeting it with a strong, sure hand and pushing it emphatically clear. It was a genuinely top-drawer stop, the kind that settles a defence rather than merely a scoreline, and he commanded his box calmly for the remaining hour.
In front of him, a back four finding its feet together did rather more right than wrong. Ben Nolan continued his quietly impressive breakthrough season at left-back, giving his winger scraps and precious little else, while offering the sort of forward pass that suggests a footballer rather than merely a defender. Jamie Cleary was the more understated influence on the opposite flank — not the most combative in the tackle, but his positional sense meant he rarely needed to be.

The centre-back pairing of Tadgh O'Neill and Shaun Deacy grew into the sort of partnership that wins promotions: Deacy reading the game a beat ahead of Maynooth's forwards and using his pace to snuff out danger before it properly threatened, O'Neill the more commanding voice, organising and stepping into midfield when the picture allowed.
Ahead of them, Kealan Harpur continues to do the unglamorous work that makes teams tick. Playing the holding role with a maturity beyond the number on his back, Harpur broke up Maynooth attacks before they had the chance to develop and, in possession, barely misplaced a pass all morning — the kind of quiet excellence that rarely earns headlines but always earns the manager's trust.
Leixlip's football did the talking.

Where Leixlip really had the better of this contest was further forward. Sean O'Reilly's stock rises with every outing, and here he was a persistent menace down the right, at one point bursting the offside trap early in the second half to brush off two defenders and drive in on goal. His finish flashed narrowly wide — a heartbreaking margin, and one that on another morning is the difference between a draw and a 1-0 lead that Leixlip would have defended with everything they had.

Szymon Czekman, diminutive but utterly unbowed, was singled out by the Maynooth bench as the man to stop; they never managed it. Time and again he wriggled clear of two or three challenges to set United on the front foot, his guile the perfect foil for the more direct running of his midfield partner.

That partner, Eric Savin, produced the moment of the match — though the goal had its true origins twenty yards further back. In the 57th minute, Tadgh O'Neill embarked on a run that will live long in the memory of anyone stood pitchside: picking the ball up in his own box, the centre-back simply drove through the heart of the Maynooth side, shrugging off challenges and carrying it the length of the pitch as though playing a different, faster game to everyone around him. It was the kind of surging, front-foot burst that no Maynooth player showed any appetite to stop, and by the time O'Neill released it to Savin on the edge of the box, he had turned a defensive header into the platform for the equaliser. Savin did the rest with real quality — shifting his weight one way, sending two defenders the other, and burying it emphatically into the roof of the net. A goal that began with a centre-back's audacity and ended with a midfielder's finishing touch.

Up top, Donal McCarthy did the unheralded striker's work — holding the ball up under difficult conditions, defending from the front, making himself a nuisance no centre-half in the league is enjoying facing. Tom, back from injury on the left, showed enough in patches to suggest sharper end product is only games away.

Chances squandered, lessons to take.

The bare truth is that this should not have needed rescuing. Savin's first-half header drifted over when it might have dipped under the bar; a corner fell agonisingly out of Kealan Harpur's reach when the simplest of finishes beckoned; and a procession of corners caused genuine chaos in the Maynooth box, with Tom, Donal, Tadgh and Eric all seeing efforts blocked, headed over or scuffed wide. On another morning, several of those go in, and Leixlip are out of sight.
Maynooth's goal, when it arrived, was a lesson in defensive discipline rather than any great failing — a break down the left that substitute Dylan Rheinisch, big-hearted but caught cold, could not deal with, and a superb cross duly turned home at the back post. It was one of only two occasions all match Maynooth were allowed in behind, and it will sting all the more for how avoidable it looked in the cold light of Monday.
Andrei Gilhan's introduction on the left brought a welcome injection of energy and pace, and he carved out a couple of promising openings before a heavy knock forced his early withdrawal — the one genuine worry from an otherwise encouraging morning.

The verdict: Leixlip passed Maynooth off the pitch for long stretches of this game, and there will be a temptation this week to focus on the two points squandered rather than the performance that so nearly delivered them. That would be the wrong lesson. This was a young side playing patient, purposeful football against tougher opposition than they faced last season, growing into their belief with every fixture. The luck will turn. When it does, on this evidence, the points will follow.

U17 Major Boys Templeogue 2- 2  Leixlip United.

Late kickoff in Tymon thankfully with the weather that was around Sunday morning, we started brightly and played some really good football out from the back as we were against the wind, they on the other hand were trying to launch it and catch us with the wind behind them but a new CB pairing and the back 4 in general stood up to it all. 

We went 1 nil up 5 mins before halftime when a quick thinking throw by Oisin Kelly into the box went over the CB head and bounced up to Daniel Bradley and he got over the ball brilliantly to half volley it into the bottom corner 1-0. We knew second half we could not sit back as we have been ahead in 3 of 4 league games so far and lost them all so we pushed them back and Nathan Byrne won the ball in the center circle and with the wind behind he saw the keeper off his line and a high shot looped over the keeper and bounced up into the net 2-0. 

We had chances for a 3rd but after that let’s just say we had some decisions go against us. A soft free 35 yards out was taken by their best player and he hit a cracking free kick that hit the post and we just didn’t follow it in and the rebound was put home 2-1. 

The same player hit another free the exact same and hit the same post 10 mins later but this time we cleared. We had defended really well but with 4 mins to go the ref gives a pen against us and  unfortunately the opposition scored making it  2-2 and that’s how it finished.

Leixlip United U12M Girls made it five wins out of five for the season.The girls played great football today, much improved from last week and worked brilliantly together. 

Goals scorers: Rosie Mallon scored two.Amy Mooney scored one goal after a great team move.

Player of the Match Maggie Homan: Maggie was excellent at left-back. She made superb tackles and kept great positioning, while a constant threat going forward. Well done to all the girls
