U16 Boys Premier Leixlip Utd 1 St Joseph's 1.
A baptism of  fire on our return to Premier football taking on last year's All Ireland finalists. After an early surge Joe's took control of the game and caused us numerous problems defensively eventually scoring from a header at a corner. We came under a lot of pressure after their goal but eventually we started to come to terms with them and after going close on a couple of occasions we equalised with a great finish from Aidan Doyle after some great play by Ryan Good. The second half was a much tighter affair with both teams going close, however a brilliant double save from Tom Harrington in the home goal was the highlight. All in all a great start to our season against a very good team.

U16 Boys Ardmore Rovers 5 Leixlip Utd 9
Genuine scoreline. Not a typo! Entertaining first game for this new team in a new league ended with a deserved win. The boys started so well snatching 2 early goals courtesy of Adam Cotter’s reflex header from a corner and a Gabby Floroiu snapshot outside the box. Leixlip were on top right across the pitch with play mostly in the Rovers half. And then somehow we simply let them off the hook, shipping 3 goals to end the half behind. But what a response after the break. A storming hattrick from Cian Gilgunn, 1 more each for Adam and Gabby with Fionn Egan, direct from a corner, and Ronan Hanly also getting on the scoresheet. Occasional great passages of play by the team collectively but plenty of takeaways for us all to work on in training next week. Shout outs for Alex Tighe, Aiden and MOTM Oscar Butler who never stopped running and kept the lads on their toes.

U17 Boys Div 2 Ballyoulster 2-1 Leixlip
Not the result we wanted but the performance level was excellent. Lads went 1 nil up after 11 minutes when Sam Bacon converted a penalty after Mark McGovern was taken down in the box. Ballyoulster equalised five minutes later when ref decided (from 30 yards away) that the ball had crossed our line. We had a man sent off for a second yellow after 50 minutes so we played with 10 men for last 40 minutes. Lads held out until 3 minutes from the end when Ballyoulster scored the winner from outside the box. Hard way to lose the game but super effort all round.

U16 Girls Leixlip Utd 5-2 Dunboyne
Superb result for the girls in our first competitive game ever! We started strongly with some good early chances but Dunboyne were very clinical in the first half and scored twice to go in 2-0 up at the break. Heads could have gone down but the girls did exactly the opposite and came out with a point to prove in the second half. We dominated throughout, from the back four, through midfield where our superior work rate put us on the front foot, we started to put real pressure on their goal. Captain Gwen got us off the mark and from that point on we were in control. We got further goals from Erin, Daisy, Clodagh and a second for Gwen, and there was even an assist direct from Avah in goals. A deserved 5-2 win and a brilliant start to the season.

U14 boys div 7 Leixlip 3 - 2 St. Paul's Artane
Kitted out in their new gear we had a great start to the season with a tough game against St Pauls. We took the lead through Conor Walsh after 9 minutes. St Pauls drew level 15 minutes later but Conor got his second shortly after to regain the lead. With his first involvement in the game Tirziman Maxim went on a mazy run and put the ball through the keeper's legs to make it 3-1 at the start of the second half. St Pauls scored a screamer that Will Coscadden didn't have any chance of stopping a few minutes later. Our fitness showed as the opposition tired, we were unlucky not to add to the goals. We secured the 3 points after Will made a great save in the dying minutes. Every one of the lads gave their all today and played brilliantly.

U17s Boys Major Leixlip 3-3 Cabinteely.
We started well and had a good 1st half, 3-1 up and playing really well with goals from Craig McQullan, Kaylum and Finn/OG. But we just never got going 2nd half and Cabinteely came straight back into it with 2 goals in 20 mins, 1 from the spot to make it 3-3, at this point all subs we had were injured and we had to ride it out and take a point against a good team, result keeps us unbeaten in the opening 3, and hopefully we can get players back next week and go again.

U17 Girls Major Kilmore 0 Leixlip 8
This was another mismatch but the girls can only play what’s in front of them & hopefully DDSL move us to prem now. Faye Kelly scored after 5 mins following up on a rebound from her own shot, then Lucy Morris with her left, the Faye again after 15 minutes. Lucy found the bottom corner next and after Sophie Dalton’s great header went over the bar Robyn McCaughey headed in at the far post from a corner to bring us in at 5-0. Kilmore had hit the woodwork a couple of times but our defence and Kathy Guest held them out throughout. After the break it was great to see Emma Murphy and Pratibha Singh pitch in with well taken goals and before it ended Faye got her third to mark a remarkable hattrick of hattricks in her first 3 games.

U13 Girls Premier Leixlip 2 - 0 Cabinteely
1st game for the girls in the top division following their Club history making DDSL League Winning performances last year. With a squad of only 8 players (and not a Goalie amongst them) in a 9-a-side league, the girls continued where they left off from last season with another win. 2 great identical goals. Both started from midfield and some nice 1-2 play with our striker and finished neatly passed their keeper by our midfielder. Despite our 1 player disadvantage & 0 substitutes, Leixlip were always the better team and possibly should've scored 3 or 4 more goals which is incredible. Trojan effort but more players needed if we want to compete in Premier this season.

U14 Girls Premier Greystones 3 - 0 Leixlip
Our first adventure at 11aside premier division this morning out in Greystones and the girls didn't look out of place despite the scoreline. Greystones got their goals from 3 silly mistakes and the post saved Greystones on 3 occasions after good work from our girls. We were missing a few girls today and as they slowly return from injury each one will make the squad stronger as we progress in this league. A tough work out as all games in this division will be but they will grow into it and get stronger as the weeks pass.

U15M Leixlip 5 Malahide 2
A good start to the season after a lot of squad turnover in the offseason. We started brightly and created some good chances for Nathan Byrne on the wing but the Malahide keeper kept us out but after 20mins Daniel Bradley poached on a back pass to toe poke home. 1 nil at halftime we started second half slow but settled after Harry O Connor hit a great 25 yarder in over keepers head. We should’ve controlled the game from there but we went to sleep and let them in straight away to give them life. We settled again and a left foot rocket from Aaron Power put us 3-1 up but again we let them back in with a soft free kick 20 yards out which they finished to top corner. We made changes then and Senan Moriarty scored with his first touch sweeping home from 12 yards out from a great Max Farnan cross. Finally after this goal we controlled the game and got a 5th from Daniel Bradley who won the ball high shifted it and finished low to the corner. Tougher tests ahead but a good start.

U17 Boys Major Leixlip 1-0 Lucan Utd
A great win against a team we have struggled against last season, we opened the scoring from the peno spot from Matt Johnston, he then missed a 2nd peno in the 1st half with 2 teammates failing to score with the follow up. We had really good chances to score 2nd half to extend the lead but it just didn't happen. Lucan had their chances and our defence and keeper played really well to keep them at bay and secure the 3 points, and another clean sheet.

U15.1 Boys1 Leixlip 3-0  Leicester Celtic
Great start to the season. We were well on it from the start and scored after 12 minutes when a quick kick out from Dan O'Reilly found Stevie Owens who end up beating 3 opponents and scoring with lovely finish outside the box into top corner. We should have been up 3-0 at half time with 2 chances from Brendan Carolan one of which hit the bar. After the break we continued to work hard and got 2nd goal deservedly so 10 minutes in. Lovely corner from Anil Rawat Geoghegan resulted in strong header from James Hollywood Smith who reacted the quickest in 6 yard box. With 10 minutes to go we got third goal with through ball from Stevie Owens resulted in Brendan Carolan rounding the keeper and beautiful finish into open goal to kill the game off. Defence rock solid today. Great Performance to kick off the season.
