Match result 13/5 U12M1 Crumlin 0 Leixlip 1 (Photo above)
Which means....Leixlip are u12M1 League Champions !!!!
After a disappointing first defeat of the season on Saturday, we asked the lads to show a reaction, and they put in an amazing performance against a very strong Crumlin side. We started off the stronger team, pressing high and boxing-in Crumlin into their own half. A deserved goal came 5 mins before half time, a cross from the right from Hayden Wynne finding Oisin Guha in the box to calmly roll past the outcoming keeper. We thought we had a second just before HT, a freekick saved by their keeper but tapped into an empty net by our onrushing striker Nicholas Gajovic, but the referee ruled it offside. VAR (camera phone) evidence later revealed it should have been given.

We continued to be the stronger team in the 2nd half, and thought we had a 2nd goal again when Zach Tighe pressured their keeper, and the ball rolled into the net. The ref appeared to point to the spot, and our lads celebrated off the pitch, but it was actually given as a free out and the crumlin 8 outfield players played on with our lads on the sideline, leaving just keeper Parker Colgan in their way.  Parker came out well and forced their attacker to pass to a player in an offside position..phew.
With 2 minutes left, a speculative long range shot from a Crumlin midfielder seemed destined for the top corner but Parker again made a brilliant, fingertip save to push away for a corner. Tense few final minutes but amazing defending from the whole team, followed by amazing celebrations at the final whistle from players, parents and coaches..
Very proud of the lads, a great season

15M Leixlip Utd 3 Stella Maris 1.
A really good performance tonight against a good team.who are challenging at the top end of the table like ourselves. Stella started really brightly and scored early to go 1 up. We gradually worked our way back into the game and after a few near misses Adam Adiboye finished off Jamie Flood's Cross for our equaliser. We continued to hound Stella all over the park and Jack Doran put us in front early in the second half. We continued to dominate and Aidan Doyle with a lovely finish from a Ryan  Good cross wrapped up the points for us. We move onto another big game at the weekend home to St Ita's in our quest for promotion.

U14 M1 Leixlip 4 Bohemians 2
Bohs took the lead having worked it down our right. We equalised when Stevie Owen’s laid it off to Senan Moriarty who found the bottom corner from the edge of the box. We took the lead when a nice ball over the top found Rian Fahy who nudged it to Stevie Owen’s for Stevie to score.
They equalised working it to the byline and crossing to the six yard box.
Our lead was restored when Senan’s free kick was spilled by the keeper for Rian to react and score. James McGee put the cherry on the top with a lovely free kick.
Through it all Dan O’Reilly made some great saves - great squad performance with everyone working their socks off.
U13 Girls Div 1 Ardmore 0 - 6 Leixlip
Good week for the girls with a 2 nil win over Newlands on Thursday and 6 nil win over Ardmore this morning.
They were tuned in from the start and were rewarded early on when Annabelle Carty converted a penalty following a foul in the box on Cara Murphy. Niamh Looney scored just before half time. We dominated the second half with goals from Sophie Murphy, Lily Diffney, Jazzy Krumina and Olivia Harrington.
Couldn't fault them today and the excitement is building for the Cup Final next Sunday. Peamount won the All Ireland Cup yesterday so it will be a tough visit to the AUL but they know what they need to do.

U18M1 Ballyoulster 0-1 Leixlip
Haven't posted many match reports this season, in totality hasn't been a season to remember particularly after the highs of last season, however this was a final Schoolboy game for this group of players and they produced a cracking performance that was reminiscent of our U17 season where we won the cup and lost the league by a point. This game doubled as a remembrance game for Ballyoulster coach Mark Howard who passed away suddenly after the U17 Cup Semi Final. It was an almighty battle as they always are and it was a Killian Egan goal that seperated it in the end.
All in all it's been a privilege to bring this group from little boys to young men. I'd like to thank the club, particularly Paul Martin and Dave Kelly who helped me get the team up and running, to the players past and present and finally to Paul Egan whose been with me from the beginning and Colm Craven for the last few seasons since we merged the teams, all in all a very fulfilling journey. For me the journey starts again with the U10s and already savouring the challenge.

MGL U16A Leixlip 8 Larkview 5
(Yes 8-5)

Where to start with this one on a mad hot afternoon.
Well most importantly - we’ve finally beaten Larkview having played them regularly since 2019.
We went 1-0 down early off a well delivered corner. Cara Moriarty started a busy afternoon with an equaliser from the edge of the box. Soon after she gave us the lead with her left and then a third when Ailbhe Mooney put her in behind.
The next goal celebration was very popular as Marie Isabel Merenciuc Sadoveanu scored her first goal for the team.
In the second half some great passing ended with Grace Kelly in the box finishing nicely. Lucy Morris then got on the score sheet and followed up soon after with the goal of the game for her second -  a peach from distance.
On a really hot day, when players were tired Larkview mounted a fight back and scored 4 quite quickly and it’s fair to say our girls were a bit rattled.
Everything settled down when we snuffed out one for their attacks with a slide tackle and we went straight up the field for Cara to get her 4th.
U16B Leixlip 5-2 Beechwood
Lads made hard work of this victory today. Leixlip went 2 nil up within 5 minutes, through great finishes by Sam Bacon and David Ibrahim but Beechwood were level at 2-2 after 14 minutes after some hesitant defending. Leixlip dug in after the break but it was only after 70 minutes that we went 3-2 up through a cool finish by Ibrahim to get his second of the game. Lads pressed and finished the game with another 2 goals in the last 10 minutes through Sam Bacon (for his second) and Nathan Elliott. Not our best performance but a good result nonetheless.

Major 16 results:

Tuesday 7th game
Leixlip 3-0 Drogheda

Good solid performance, missed a host of chances but still went on to score 3 goals in the 2nd half from Finn, Craig Fagan and Aaron Lee.

Sunday 12th game
Leixlip 3-0 Greystones

Similar to the other game, we played some excellent football but struggled to create anything major until the 2nd half when the game opened up, Lewis Kelly put us 1-0 up from the spot, then 10 minutes later great work from Craig Mc and Finn to set up Aaron Lee who scored a cracking goal to make it 2, in the last 5, Kaylum was taken down in the box after some neat play and a driving run, he then stepped up to score and make it 3, and that's how it ended.

U13 Sun 7 boys Leixlip 4 - 1 Drumcondra
Another convincing win by lads today in the sunshine.
We took an early lead after 5 mins through Josh. Jakub put us 2 up. We started strong in the second half with Ryan getting 2 goals in 3 mins of the restart. Drumcondra got their goal shortly after. We continued to attack till the end of the game, hitting the woodwork twice and forcing their keeper to make some good saves. Our keeper Will make some key saves during the game. We have a tough game coming up on Thursday against Corduff.

U13M Bohs 1-6 Leixlip Utd
After the disappointment of Wednesday night’s loss to AGP the boys responded excellently to beat a well organised Bohs team 6-1. Adam Rafferty started the game brilliantly by scoring then assisting Ben Osmic. Shortly after Ben’s goal Adam threaded a perfectly weighted pass to Dan Lyons in the left channel. Dan glided into the box but the keeper made a great save when he tried to find the far corner. Senán McAuley reacted first to prod home our 3rd goal after 20 mins. A couple of minutes later a carbon copy move got Dan in again and the keeper saved again. Bohs counter attacked down our right wing and scored to leave the score 3-1 at half time. We controlled the 2nd half and goals by Aidas Katkauskas, Senán & Charlie Cooke put the gloss on a convincing win and kept our promotion push on track. Next up is an away game V Cherry Orchard.

U11 Girls put in an amazing performance at the Bayern Girls Cup in Germany  winning 5 out of their 7 games coming runners up. They did the club proud.

MGL U18s Lee Brothers Cup Final Leixlip United 2 - Lusk 1
The girls won their first silverware (after 9 years hard work!) last night in a tense cup final out at the AUL. It has been a long season for the girls, with not a huge number of matches - their last match was the semi final a month ago and initially the rustiness showed as we started on the back foot and took some time to adjust to the pace of the game. The water break came at the right time! We came back into the game much steadier. After 30 minutes, on the counter attack Katie Allen played a superb through ball that Emily Lynch controlled ahead of the centre back and as the keeper advanced, Emily rolled it home for 1-0. It wasn’t long for the second goal, with Emily harrying the defence in possession, winning the ball back and striking a speculative shot from the edge of the box that put us 2-0 up after 35 minutes. We were playing well at this stage, but just before the break Lusk pulled one back with a well taken finish inside the box for 2-1.

The second half was similar to the first with both teams having chances. Aine Murphy covered a huge amount of ground from midfield. The defence held strong as Lusk attacked. We came close with a long distance free kick from Maia Mulligan, Irina Canizares tested the keeper and late on Ava Carey had a shot that drifted wide. We had a few injuries in the second half, cramp was a factor for both teams, and it was great to see our strength in depth as the subs played very well. The last 10 minutes felt like half an hour, but the girls worked really hard to see out the win. Alison O’Connor was calmness personified in goals!

Emily was awarded a deserved Player of The Match. It really was a huge team effort from all 15 girls - everyone gave their all for the team and the trophy is a well earned reward!

Big thanks to all the supporters who came out to cheer on the girls too, it made for a great atmosphere. Definitely one of the highlights was Paul Martin's post-match congratulations.
